Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), ranked among the top universities globally and regionally. It is a distinguished university recognized for its leadership in research and innovation, consistently strives for excellence and aims to contribute meaningfully to fostering prosperity, advancing national development, and enhancing the well-being of all individuals through the production of outstanding graduates who are well-rounded, virtuous, patriotic, and resilient. The university had its academic session in 1973 after starting as an agricultural school, then expanded to include fields of science and technology, and was renamed Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1997 by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad to emphasize its role as a center for higher education in various fields, especially in science and information technology. There is a main library, the Sultan Abdul Samad Library (PSAS), which is capable of accommodating around 2000 users, along with branch libraries to support the learning, teaching, research, and consultancy activities at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
